Agriculture: Kwara, BoI to raise N2bn
The Kwara government is set to raise N2 billion through the Bank of Agriculture (BoI) to boost agriculture.
A statement issued on Monday in Ilorin by the chief press secretary to the governor, Abdulwahab Oba, said the money would be raised through a funding window.
The statement said the funding window would be facilitated by the bank and the state government.
According to Oba, the proposal was presented to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed by Muhammed Santuraki, the managing director of BoI.
It said if the state government accepted the proposal, the bank would provide its N1 billion counterpart fund to jump start the scheme.
While presenting the proposal, Santuraki was quoted to have explained that the collaborative fund would provide lending support to commercial farmers.
