Kaduna Chamber holds post-harvest management technology workshop
Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) has concluded plans to hold the second edition of national exhibition/workshop on ‘Post-harvest Management Technology and Value Chain Financing’ between October 21 and 23, 2014, at the Kaduna International Trade and Investment Centre, Kaduna State.
A statement signed by Usman Saulawa, director-general of the chamber, said the exhibition/workshop, which is a joint collaboration between the chamber and the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Abuja, is aimed at complementing the efforts, policies and programmes of all tiers of government.
Main objectives of the event include bringing together stakeholders in post-harvest management technology and the financial sector to fast track the development of post-harvest management and value chain financing and policy framework that will support the initiative, promote networking and collaboration among participants and identify main causes of post-harvest losses in fruits and vegetable crops.
Other objectives are to showcase post-harvest equipment, chemicals and technologies for combating post-harvest losses, promote and sensitise Nigerian farmers, researchers, equipment fabricators and financial institutions on best practices and technology that will lead to value chain financing.
