Abandoned Chibok schoolgirl receiving treatment at Mubi – Police

One of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls reported to have resurfaced at Mubi in Adamawa on Wednesday is now receiving medical attention, the force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, has said.

Ojukwu, who was responding to questions at the National Information Centre in Abuja on Thursday, said the girl, 20, was abandoned at Mararaban, Mubi, by suspected terrorists.

“Yes, I can confirm that on September 24, at about 5p.m., one young girl, about 20, among those adopted by the bad elements was dropped at Mararaban, Mubi, by suspected terrorists.

“She has been picked by the police and is undergoing treatment right now.

“Her condition is stable so far and she is getting the best medical attention available,” he said.

When asked if there was any proof that the girl was one of the kidnapped girls, Ojukwu said that available information showed that “she is one of them”.

BusinessDay on Wednesday reported that Susan Ishaya, one of the 276 Government Secondary School girls abducted in Chibok, Borno State in April by the dreaded Boko Haram Islamist sect, was on Sunday, September 21 set free by her captors.

Enoch Mark, the chairman, Association of Abducted Chibok Girls’ Parents, told BusinessDay on telephone that the teenage girl who, he said, was at the moment traumatized arrived Chibok late Sunday having spent four days between the place she was set free and Chibok.
