Austria urges Buhari on fighting corruption
The Commercial Counselor of Austrian Embassy in Nigeria,Nella Hengstler, on Friday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be committed to the fight against corruption.
Hengstler said the government’s ability to reduce corruption would make more Austrian companies come for investment and businesses in Nigeria.
The counselor also enjoined the new administration to sustain its ongoing efforts at making the country safe and secure for foreign direct investment and exchange of goods and services.
“The best option for Nigeria currently is to create the right business and investment for more Austrian companies and other foreign businesses and investors.”
“Nigeria needs to be seen as a secure and safe country with limited level of corruption in private and public relationships.”
“This way, Austrian companies and businesses, just like other foreign businesses, would be ready to do business in a secure and friendly environment,” she said.
The envoy said the problem of insecurity, corruption and unstable power supply had in the past years, discouraged foreign companies from doing business in Nigeria.
Hengstler said her government would continue to expand her relations with Nigeria in area of business development services.
The commercial counselor, who restated her office’s commitment to promoting the “ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA” in Nigeria, urged Nigerians to take advantage being offered by the global programme.
“ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, with offices in over 70 countries, provides a broad range of intelligence and business development services for both Austrian companies and their international business partners.”
“We organise more than 1,000 events every year to bring business contacts together.”
“The ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA offices introduce importers, distributors or agents to Austrian companies, as well as provide them with information on Austrian business location and assistance in entering the Austrian market,” she said.
Hengstler, therefore, enjoined the Nigerian business community to visit her office in Lagos so as to benefit from the ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA.
