Fashola inaugurates panel to probe BRT, soldiers’ mayhem
A three-man panel, with the mandate to probe the mayhem in Lagos resulting from an accident involving a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus in which a soldier was killed and the subsequent burning of several BRT buses allegedly by rampaging soldiers, has been constituted by Governor Babatunde Fashola.
The incident occurred at the Palm Groove area of the busy Lagos-Ikorodu Road on July 14, 2014. Fashola inaugurating the panel on Monday at the State House described the event as deeply regrettable in view of the loss of life as well as the destruction of properties.
Fashola, who made reference to the defunct Nigerian Airways which was reputed to be one of the best in the continent and a symbol of the Nigerian pride in the early seventies, noted that the Nigerian Army has been a source of pride to the nation especially in regards to their peace keeping missions around the world.
