Fuel Scarcity: Kaduna Refinery to Produce 2m liters of PMS daily

The Managing Director of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), Idi Muktar has said that the company will produce 2 million liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily starting from tomorrow.
Speaking while receiving the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the MD stressed that Nigerians need to be educated on how to safe guard the pipelines for continuous supply of crude oil to the plant saying “without the pipelines there is no way crude can come to the plant.”
He said, “Starting from tomorrow, (Wednesday), we are going to distribute 2million liters of PMS, and that is the only evidence that everyone wants to see that KRPS has re-streamed and talking about sustainability of the company, very visible efforts have been put in place to ensure constant supply of crude only to the three plants Kaduna inclusive to help reduce the hardship Nigerians are facing due to fuel scarcity in the state.
‎”Once we have crude oil, we will produce 2 million liters of the product every other day and that is efficient enough to restore consumer confidence, wipe out the queues and going forward and as long as we continue doing that, there will be no scarcity again and this will help reduce the hardship the citizens are facing due to fuel scarcity in the state.”‎
The MD however blamed some bad elements in the society for the fuel scarcity, adding, “from March to April we witnessed 13 infraction with the pipelines from Abuja to Kaduna, we are losing petrol due to activities of unpatriotic elements tempering with pipelines which is unfortunate.”
Idi Muktar stressed that it’s high time these unpatriotic Nigerians realized the harm done to this country due to their unpatriotic behaviour.
He assured the visiting journalists of his company’s readiness to partner with media in development of the country.
Commenting of the allegation by the Minister for Petroleum that 30% of PMS is diverted to neighbouring states, the MD pointed out that it is very difficult to police every articulated vehicle carrying the product across the country and called for collaboration with the public saying “We are the once involved in the distribution, we are the once involved in the diversion and yet we are the same people crying for scarcity.”
He described the situation as unfortunate saying “We are shooting ourselves in the feet because, at this moment, there is enough supply of the product and that is why the Minister has ordered that every tanker should have a tracking device to see where the fuel is taken and dispensed.”
The NUJ Chairman, Comrade Garba Muhammad commended the company for its support in the past and called for more collaboration between the company and the media.
