Kano gets first female Accountant General
Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the appointment of Aisha Bello Muhammadu, as the new Accountant –General of the state.
The governor said her appointment is with immediate effect. Before the appointment she was the commissioner for planning and budget of the state.
Aisha replaces erstwhile Acting Accountant General, Ibrahim Ahmad M. Kura, who retains his position in the office of the accountant general, as Director of Treasury.
Muhammed Garba, Kano state commissioner of Information, youth and culture, made this disclosure, in a press statement made available to BusinessDay on Wednesday in Kano.
The new accountant general is a graduate of financial management and accounting, and had working experience in several commercial banks in the country.
Born in 1965, Aisha worked as Manager, Kaduna South Branch of the First Bank Plc; she was also a one- time Operation Manager of the Minna Branch of the Bank.
It will be recall that the former accountant general was removed two weeks based on what the commissioner for information allegation that the AG was fronting for the immediate past governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
