LG boss appeals to Jonathan, Fashola for intervention

Ayodele Adewale, the chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Govern¬ment Area of Lagos State, has made a passionate ap¬peal to President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State to intervene in the situation in the local govern¬ment area, alleging that the council was under siege.
The council boss, who made the appeal at a press
conference at the weekend, alleged that unwholesome activities of a group of young men, known as Community Policing Youth Vanguard, who, he alleged, have made terrorising residents of the local government area their past time have continued unchecked by the law en¬forcement agencies, espe¬cially the police.
Adewale alleged that Dan Okoro, an assistant commissioner of police
(ACP), who is also the area E commander of the Nigeria police in Festac Town, has failed to check the group that is causing confusion in the local government area. He alleged further that the group intimidates, harasses and most times physically assaults council and state officials, residents and visi¬tors to the local government area.
“I wonder why the Nige¬ria police has not arrested a group like that which came to attack local government officials inside their secre¬tariat, more so after receiv¬ing video clips as evidence of their action, and also after several days of the attack”, he fumed.
Continuing, he said what is most worrisome is that their actions have continued unabated because Okoro has failed to check their attack on defenseless citizens of this local government area.
