National water resources master plan to align Nigeria with $500bn
The 16-year National Water Resources Mas¬ter Plan (NWRMP) approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, July 23 to ensure proper management and development of the nation’s water resources has the po¬tential to align the country with opportunities for wealth generation and GDP growth in a sector that is globally valued at $500 billion.
The master plan, which acknowledged the fact that government funding of the water sector might not be enough to bring about the development of the sector, proposed the commerciali-sation of water services to increase the revenue base of the sector for the main¬tenance of facilities and development of new ones.
