NEC asks CBN to give states N100bn for grazing infrastructure
The National Economic Council (NEC) has recommended that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) provide a seed funding of N100 billion to assist states establish mini modern ranches across the federation.
This, it said, is geared towards establishing infrastructure for grazing to curb the errant movement of nomadic farmers and ensure the production of healthy meat for consumption.
Briefing journalists after the NEC meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo, Gabriel Suswan, the Benue State governor, said the committee on grazing presented its report which included 15 recommendations to the council.
Out of the 15 recommendations one was rejected and an ad hoc committee was set up to come up with a white paper, he said.
