Niger Delta Avengers calls for referendum
The militant group which identifies itself as the Niger Delta Avengers has called on the Federal Government to conduct a referendum just as been done in the United Kingdom.
The group in a tweet on Saturday also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to visit the Niger Delta.
According to the group: “President Buhari borrow a leaf from PM David Cameron, call for a referendum and let Nigerians decides like they did to vote you into Power,” but it is not clear what the subject of the referendum will be.
The Niger Delta Avengers has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta it has vowed to reduce Nigeria’s oil production to zero. Efforts at bringing it to the negotiation table have so far failed.
