Nigerians maintain same satisfaction level as PWBI increases by 0.1 points
The recent monthly polls of Personal Well-Being Index (PWBI) released by an Abuja based polling agency, NOI Polls, shows that the PWBI increased slightly by 0.1 points.
PWBI of Nigerians for the month of July stands at 41.5 percent, according to NOI Polls.
The PWBI shows differences in the satisfaction of Nigerians on several aspects of their lives. The poll revealed that Nigerians are mostly satisfied with their religion (86.9 percent) which recorded the highest points of satisfaction.
Nigerians are most satisfied in terms of religion (86.9 points); social interaction (73.9 points) and physical health (74.0 points). In addition, Nigerians are neutral in terms of achievement in life (50.4 points), standard of living (47.3 points) and personal security (49.3 points) while Nigerians are not satisfied with their personal economic situation (35.6 points).
Nigerians are highly satisfied with their personal religion and this index has remained the highest ranking indicator since January 2014.
The monthly trend analysis shows that there was a decline in three of the indicators that constitute the PWBI. Achievement in life index declined by 1.9 points, economic situation index with 1.2 points and the standard of living index with 0.5 point.
The economy index again experienced a decline of 1.2 points in July, following a 3.3 points decline in June.
The economy index has remained the lowest ranked since the PWBI polling commenced in January 2013. This shows that Nigerians are unsatisfied with the economic situation in the country.
The religion Index, Social Interaction and Security indices; 1.2 points, 0.8 point and 1.4 points observed increases in the month of July.
Personal security index experienced the highest increase in July despite the downward trend in June. This shows that Nigerians are more satisfied with their personal security in July than they were in June.
The health index maintained the same rating as recorded in June 2014.
The average PWBI from January till July 2014 is 42.1 points, while the PWBI for the month of July stands at 41.51 points. This shows that there is a 0.6 point drop when compared to the average PWBI from January till date.
Since the introduction of the PWBI by the polling agency in January 2013, the PWBI has remained the lowest ranked indicator.
Nigerian businesses, financial and government agencies largely depend on their perceptions and micro assessment of consumers’ expectation in making decisions.
