NSCDC arrests 13 suspects for pipeline vandalism
The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday said it had arrested 13 suspected pipeline vandals.
The Commandant, Gabriel Abafi, who made the disclosure while addressing journalists at Ikeja, said the suspects were arrested on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7.
Abafi said that eight suspects were arrested by the command with 706 plastic kegs of 25 litres each of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise called petrol along Badagry area.
“This operation took place at Badagry area between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. while they were attempting to move the product to neighbouring countries of Benin, Togo and Ghana.
“The Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, our partners, on Aug. 5 also handed over five other suspects to the command with 81 drums of 250 litres each of petrol recovered from them.
“They were also on their way to the Republic of Benin,’’ Abafi said.
According to him, the suspects are Jacob Apaloo (43), Kwame Tola (48), Amayon Sisieli (31), Sunday Setol, Senaya Edo, Michael Dansu (73), Moses David and Nfon Alaka.
He disclosed that Maton Nge, Felix Obogun, Oluwasegun Tinsika, Simon Akinmuleya and Yusuf Arowolo, in their 30s would be charged to court.
“I want to thank all other security agencies for the energy and synergy between us.’’
Abafi warned those who were still in illegal act to stop or face the wrath of the law.
He advised Nigerians, especially youths not to engage in illegalities but rather to find a legitimate business to do. (NAN)
