Osun 2014: Monarch prays for Akinwusi’s success
The Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin last weekend prayed for the success in the August 9 poll of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in Osun State, Olusegun Akinwusi.
The monarch, who welcomed SDP’s campaign team to his palace in Modakeke-Ife, Ife-East Local Government Area, described Akinwusi as a worthy ambassador of the town and urged people of the state to support him.
“We know your positive roles towards the development of our town. We all love you as our son and welcome you home as our worthy ambassador.
“To those who followed you from other communities, like in every other democratic world, we have members of other political parties here but we want to assure you of our people’s support both at home and abroad”, he stated.
Oba Adedoyin expressed his confidence in God to fulfill his will in the forthcoming election while quoting from several scriptures, just as he blessed Akinwusi, asking the Almighty to see him through in the forthcoming race.
Earlier, the SDP governorship candidate gave reasons why he ventured into politics, saying he was only answering the call of God to serve him for just four years.
He said: “I want to say that two years ago when you hosted me here, I said I have no interest in politics. But when you look at what is going on today, only a bastard will refuse to stand up to help in the rescuing of this state.
“We are faced by a strange type of government and it will be bad if we keep quiet. I am coming on board to put things right, to help youths of this state rediscover themselves and put in place right policies for the revival of the state economy”, he said.
He thanked Ogunsuas in council for hosting him in spite of the fact that he came to the palace unannounced. “I have respect for our traditional institution and I have met them recently to express my willingness to contest the August 9 election,” he said.
