Reps summon Jega over distribution of permanent voters’ card

The House of Representatives on Wednesday summoned Attahiru Jega, chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), over alleged reckless distribution of permanent voters’ cards in some states.

The resolution was passed after robust debate on the motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Abiodun Balogun (APC, Lagos).

In his lead debate, Balogun, who raised alarm over imminent disenfranchisement of eligible voters in some states of the federation, argued that it was imperative for the commission to present its progress report on the distribution of the permanent voters’ cards within the next 48 hours to the House Committee on Electoral Matters.
