Stakeholders response eases Apapa gridlock
The response by stakeholders, including the Federal and Lagos state government has eased the menacing grid lock in the Apapa area of Lagos that is home to Nigeria’s premier ports complex.
The FG has deployed the Nigerian military and policemen who in collaboration with the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) officials have ensured that fuel tankers and container trucks that have been causing untold hardship to motorist and commuters are arraigned on a single file to their various loading destinations.
Stake holders at a meeting held on Thursday 17 2014 agreed that hundreds of fuel tankers which hitherto flooded Apapa to lift fuel from tank farms should be removed from the area to allow for the completion of trailer park under construction there.
The remarkable improvement in the traffic flow will accelerate economic activities, boost productivity and ease transportation costs for workers.
