Suntai: Taraba speaker sets up medical panel
Josiah Kente, the speaker of the Taraba House of Assembly, has set up a five-man medical panel to verify the health status of Governor Danbaba Suntai.
This was contained in a statement he signed and made available to journalists in Jalingo on Saturday.
Kente said the action followed the resolution of the State Executive Council meeting of September 10.
He said he evoked the provisions of section 189 (b) and 189 (4) of the 1999 constitution as amended, requesting him to constitute such a medical panel.
“I have set up the medical panel in line with the resolution of the state executive meeting of September 10 which requested me to do so,” he said.
The panel has Bala Shehu as chairman.
Other members are the personal physician of Suntai, Ahmed Kara; Peter Alabi, Shehu Sule and Inusa Samaila.
The statement also said the panel would soon be inaugurated.
It would be recalled that Suntai had survived a plane crash on October 25, 2012 and had returned to the state after receiving treatment in Germany and the US.
He was later flown to London for further treatment and only recently returned to the country. (NAN)
