Verification exercise uncovers 13,336 Ghost Workers in Kaduna State
The verification exercises embarked on by the Kaduna State government has uncovered 13,336 ghost workers .
Briefing journalists after the 22nd State Executive Council Meeting, the Head of Service, Alisabatu Dada- Onazi said,” Ghost worker phenomenon is not a myth ,but reality both in Kaduna State and at the Federal level .”
The Head of Service said that the state government will soon conduct the final verification exercise to enable” the affected ghost workers to write to the Governor to prove that they are bona fide staffs of the state and Unified Local Government Services”.
According to her, “the reason for the staff verification is to ascertain actual number of staff on payroll using May 2015 as baseline
The May, July, August and from October 2015 to date were inconclusive, 3,000 did not show up for July, August 2015 verification while over 5,000 had a number of problems ranging from multiple PSN, wrong PSN, overpayments and wrong account details”.
“Following the implementation of the reports of the special verification committee and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) verification exercises; the number was reduced from 16,465 to 13,336.
He however said that details of the names of the affected staffs and the requirement for the verification by the Governor will be communicated to MDAs.
