Video censors board approves 79 films for September 2014

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) on Tuesday approved and verified 79 movies for the month of September.

A statement issued by Caesar Kagho, Acting Head, Corporate Affairs of NFVCB, in Abuja said 11 of the movies approved were feature length films for cinema exhibition, while 68 were for home viewership.

The statement said that the September approvals showed a marginal improvement of nine films over the August figure of 70 movies.

The statistics placed Yoruba language home movies in the lead with 31 films; English language had 20 approved, while Hausa had 16 and Bini two.

Among the movies for home viewership, 29 have 15-year-old classification grade, while 38 are classified 18-year-old for adult viewership.

One movie was rated “12” and one “PG” (Parental Guidance) for both adults and children accompanied by a known adult.

The “PG” approved film is “Dazzling Mirage” (English), while the “12” rated movie is “Never Again” (English).

Among the 15 rated movies are “Abin Dariya” (Hausa), “Abubakar Sadiq” (Hausa), “Adebomi” (Yoruba), “Amarya De Ango”(Hausa), “Be My Guest”(English), “My Faith My Virginity” (English) and Oyenusi” ( Yoruba).

Others are “Ope” (Yoruba), “Omo Onile” (Yoruba), “The Perfect Plan” (English), “The Appointment” (English) “Sarah” (Hausa).

Some of the “18” rated movies include “Agbo lboji” (Yoruba), “God’s Will” (English), “Boyayyar Gaskiya” (Hausa), “Caught in the Act” (English), “Eje Tutu” (Yoruba) and “Ujadu” (Bini).

The statement said NFVCB required that all approved movies were to be released with their respective consumer advisories of imitable technique, strong languages, violence, drug abuse, sex, and fetish rituals.
