ABC cargo services expands South-west
ABC Cargo Express, a division of ABC Transport Plc, has opened an office in Bodija, Ibadan, along the University of Ibadan axis. The new cargo outlet is located at Block A, Shop 19, Joke Plaza, behind Stanbic Bank, Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital brings to two the total number of ABC Cargo Express outlets in Oyo state. The main office/terminal is opposite Nigeria Breweries, New Ife Road, Ibadan.
Since 2012, ABC Cargo Express commenced a vigorous expansion programme by setting up outlets, increasing its fleet size, and establishing a maintenance depot solely dedicated to cargo trucks. According to the management, ABC Cargo Express is set to take delivery of additional new trucks before the last quarter runs out.
In addition to strengthening ABC Cargo Express capacity, manpower training and enhancement workshops was organized between February and March 2015, especially for cargo staff, supervisors, and ground operatives.
These workshops, which were aimed at giving participants with the necessary skills to manage modern-day quality service delivery and customer relationship, took place in Owerri. The next session, aimed at re-orientating the drivers and attendants on matters of defensive driving, is billed for August 2015.
ABC Cargo Express is involved in transporting consolidated items of various sizes and weight, including lightweight parcels and documents that require express handling and dispatch. It offers line support for courier/logistics companies on next day priority basis, and terminal-to-terminal delivery of goods for small and medium scale businessmen.
It also offers corporate customers the alternative of door-to-door delivery on volumes, either by consolidated cargo or direct charter service. Meanwhile, ABC Sprinter Service has commenced operations on the Orlu–Port Harcourt and Orlu–Lagos routes.
Essentially designed for passengers who like to travel light, with little or no luggage, ABC Sprinter runs as a direct passenger service with daily departure schedules. The newly established terminal is on Ihioma Road, opposite Orlu local government secretariat, Orlu, Imo State.
In addition to cargo services, the company provides tours across the West Coast of Africa, petty cash services, as well as runs a luxurious budget hotel, City Transit Inn, in Utako, Abuja. A major haulage transporter with Lafarge-WAPCO, Nestle, GZI, DHL, and United Cement Company, ABC Transport plc remains the only publicly quoted road transport company in the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
