Brewery giant, NB flags 2014 safety campaign

Deeply concerned about the safety of millions of road users, the Nigerian Breweries (NB) plc last weekend in Lagos flagged off this year’s  end of year ‘Don’t and Drive Campaign’ which is in its 7th edition in partnership with the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC).

Nicolaas Vervelde, managing director and chief executive of NB Plc said at the formal flag-off that the annual ‘Don’t and Drive Campaign’ campaign is one of the ways the brewery giant gives back to the society  as part of its vision of winning with Nigeria.

Since its launch in 2008, NB plc have held 27 ralliesin major cities across the country. It involves public enlightenment campaigns, communication and capacity building workshops.

It every phase of the campaign, the rallies attracts large turnout of stakeholders that includes commercial and private vehicle drivers, motorcycle and tricycle riders. As part of public awareness campaign, the NB plc CEO said, that responsible consumption slogans with the Don’t Drink and Drive message is communicated through print and electronic media during the period. This year’s edition will include public enlightenment sessions at motor parks in four cities across Nigeria namely Port Harcourt, Lagos, Onitsha and Makurdi

In his speech, Boboye Oyeyemi, the first career corp marshal and chief executive of FRSC stated that the safety campaign complements the role of FRSC in creating  awareness on issues of road safety and ensuring sanity on the road.

“We are indeed appreciative of this spirit of corporate social responsibility being shown by NB plc, and I want to call on other corporate bodies to emulate this good example”. The Corp Marshal advised.
