Kewalram announces Isuzu presence with new models
For over a year, discussions were ongoing between GM South Africa and the Kewalram Group in Nigeria on opening a new Isuzu dealership in the country as part of efforts by the automaker to increase its market share.
The latest marriage of convenience formally took place in Lagos with launch of the 6th generation Isuzu D-Max Pick-up models and N. Series unveiled to the public the Eko Hotel, Lagos.
Speaking at the launch, Lee Frutusan, the deputy general manager, Isuzu, said Isuzu was incorporated in 1913 and it has been a global market product.
During the evening launch event laced with comedy talks and dancing displays, many Isuzu Motor Company officials from Japan and South Africa described the D-Max as a strong contender in its segment and by extension the next step forward in the pick ups.
Mario Spangenberg, president and managing of GM South Africa, stated that Isuzu D-Max is a continuation of its iconic heritage of innovation, toughness, durability, functionality and appeal of its kind.
He added that Isuzu is taking its steps in the right direction and they will start operating very aggressively in Nigeria. Nigeria has a great auto industry and D-Max and N. Series will be well received in Nigeria.
Frutusan also pointed out that Isuzu will make its products to be more satisfactory and that the company will therefore deliver quality products and services, he said.
Furukangan, the vice president, Isuzu, said that “Koncept auto is here to manage Isuzu in Nigeria and 20,000 commercial vehicles in Africa. He further said that the new dealership is taking off operation in a very aggressive way in Nigeria.
He admitted however that Nigeria has the population size and the market power in West Africa and they are very important in the world. That is why Isuzu has come to provide products and render quality services to the potential customers.
“The trucks are designed to leave a lasting impression, the features of the new Isuzu D-Max standout amongst other cars. It is bigger and bolder in size for a more commanding presence on and off road, as well as increased comfort, better ride quality and improved handling.
Raju Sawlani, executive director, Kewalram Nigeria Limited, customers who prefer cars with good interior with a modern twin cockpit concept design and excellent head, shoulder and leg room will find the new models ideal.
It comes with higher level of active and passive safety features and has improved 4WD controls that are easier to use. It contains all new chasis for improved ride and handling as well as increased comfort.
On the other hand, a new Isuzu dealership located on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos was commissioned by Koncept Autos, a subsidiary of the Kewalram Group.
Mario Spangenberg of GMSA noted that he is confident that Koncept Auto will deliver on what is expected from the carmaker. He added that the new outlet meets the standard and specification of General Motors and GM is impressed to have great working team in the new partnership.
