For over a hundred years the all-wheel-drive has been used in a wide range of the company’s models. Vehicles such as the G-Glass even attained legendary status. The ‘’G’’ in the G-Class stands for ‘’Gelandewagen’’ German for off-road vehicle. For over 35 years, this model has been breaking new ground off the beaten track.
With the 30th year of Mercedes-Benz’s advanced 4MATIC all-wheel drive technology, its genes can be recognized in all SUVs from Mercedes-Benz, and they all pursue the same goal of being able to master any type of terrain. With the introduction of its new nomenclature, Mercedes-Benz SUVs now carry a ‘’G’’ in their name as a tribute to legendary G-Class.
This year, is not only witnessing the success of the Mercedes-Benz SUV market performance in china but marking the 30th year of its advanced 4Matic all-wheel-drive system that has been extensively adopted in SUV models.
4Matic is the marketing name of an AWD four-wheel drive system developed by Mercedes-Benz. It is designed to increase traction in slippery conditions. Almost all Mercedes-Benz vehicles featuring this system have an automatic transmission as standard equipment; the name is derived from 4-wheel drive and automatic.
Paul Daimler, son of Daimler Motor Corporation’s  founder Gottlieb Daimler, headed the development of the world’s first ever all-wheel drive system in 1903, and, in 1907, installed it in Dernburg-Wagen, to create the world’s first four-wheel drive vehicle.
In admitting that MB Automobile Services is “customer-focused”, “relevant” and are “open to new ideas”, the sales manager added that the world of automobile is an exciting one, and pledged that the company will continue to meet and bring the best to the table at all times in order to ensure the brands it represents remain at the cutting edge.
Today, 4Matic is a core technology for a broad range of Mercedes-Benz SUV vehicles, numbering around 80 models worldwide. The SUVs permanent all-wheel-drive provides for added dynamism, comfort and safety on normal roads and cross-country terrain alike. It is a striking example of a case where technology and deign meet at the intersection of comfort and practicality.
