Mercedes, LG welcomes first curved OLED TV into Nigeria
It was a fusion of two premium brands last weekend inside the Mercedes Benz Centre, Lekki, Lagos when LG Electronics announced the entry of world’s first curved OLED TV (Model 55EA9800) into the Nigerian market.
Featuring a gently curved screen and LG’s own WRGB OLED technology, the curved television offers exceptional picture quality and an immersive viewing experience. The cutting-edge television has been awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best award and is recognised by respected international product testing and certification and like TUV Rheinland, Intertek and VDE.
Mohammed Fouani, managing director, Fouani Nigeria Limited, said, “Our groundbreaking curved OLED television marks the beginning of a whole new era in home entertainment. Its IMAX-life curvature guarantees an amazingly immersive and comfortable viewing experience.”
He said: “it is a point of pride that we were able to bring the curved OLED television into the Nigerian market and we will continue to expand and improve our industry leading television technology. LG curved OLED television delivers a peak brightness that is comparable to the brightness that is comparable to the brightest large screen LCD television, movie and video content.
Also commenting on this milestone achievement in sales and marketing, Donald Nwankwo, manager, MB Automobile Services Limited, said that MB Automobile is proud to be associated with the world’s first curved OLED TV coming from the stable of LG Electronics.
“You would agree with me that Mercedes Benz is known to be the leading premium brand in Nigeria’s automobile industry and globally. We believe having the LG curved OLED television and Mercedes Benz range is a pointer to the fact that both premium brands are known for providing top notch technological products which we believe would create a whole new experience both at home as well as on the go.”
In terms of power consumption, OLEDs are more energy efficient than plasma TVs. It’s not even close. The company plans to expand its joint efforts to offer more regions-specific entertainment and live broadcasts in order to deliver the best possible smart TV user experience to LG customers worldwide.
Global demand for the product is expected to grow to more than 7 million units by 2016, according to DisplaySearch. LG is the first company to commercialise both the flat screen OLED TV, which went on sale in Korea in January, and the innovative new introduction, which began sales in Korea in April.
The local distributor sources said the introduction of LG 55-inch curved OLED TV, LG Electronics has once more demonstrated its commitment to meeting the peculiar need of consumers especially in Nigeria.
