Winners emerge at ‘Toyota Dream Car Contest’
…From 1,122 participating children across Nigeria
A total of 9 teenagers aged between 8 years to 15 years grouped in different age categories have emerged winners in the 2017 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest held across the country last February.
The Dream Car Art Contest which is in its 11th Edition was held in Nigeria last February 11, in Abuja and Port-Harcourt for the northern and eastern zones respectively and rounded off Lagos for the Western zone on February 15, 2017.
Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is a CSR initiative of Toyota Motor Corporation Japan to develop the innate artistic talent in children and to cultivate an enduring relationship with them. Toyota distributors and dealers alike globally have keyed into this initiative because of its acceptance and impact on children’s psyche the world over.
Children grouped under the ages categories of 8 years old, 8-11 years old and 12-15 years respectively came from different schools and states to share their concepts about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars in the contest.
In the northern zone with Abuja as the location, 297 children participated, while 266 participated in eastern zone base of Port-Harcourt and 559 participated in Lagos covering the western zone.
Three (3) winners emerged from each category in Port-Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos centers. Three national finalists from each category (9 winners in all) emerged after the rigorous assessment of entries from the three drawing centers.
All the winning entries were judged based on the originality, creativity, environmental friendliness, safety and futuristic concept in their drawings.
At the end of the crucial exercise, the 9 winners were invited to the award of prize and certificate ceremony at Toyota (Nigeria) Limited corporate headquarters, Lekki on March 25, 2017. Among the nine winners, two were from Port-Harcourt and seven from Lagos.
The winner’s parents, teachers and well-wishers were entertained and winners went home with Laptops, other corporate gifts and most importantly, winner’s certificate.
The Toyota Nigeria Limited was led by the chief host of the event in the name of Kunle Ade.Ojo, Managing Director and accompanied by the trio of Andrew Ajuyah, Head of Marketing, Bayo Olawoyin Marketing Manager, and Bukunola Ogunnusi, Manager in charge of Public Relations.
After the introduction of the winners, the Managing Director expressed appreciation for the presence of everyone during the event and congratulated the winners. He added that one of the winners in the 2018 contest will be sponsored by Toyota (Nigeria) Limited to visit Japan.
On their part, the winners made presentation and concept of their drawings. They also urged Toyota to manufacture their dream car in the future.
In conclusion, one of the winners Ifunanya Nwankwo gave vote of thanks on behalf of the entire winners and expressed appreciation to the Managing Director and Toyota (Nigeria) Limited for the opportunity given to them to demonstrate their talents. Words of gratitude also came from the parents of the winners who also expressed their gratitude towards the event and Toyota Management.
