Where are the whistle-blowers?
Whistle-blowers are those knowledgeable insiders who come to realize that they owe more loyalty to their country than to their bosses or their private pockets.
Whistle-blowers are patriots of the highest calibre in any country.
Whistle-blowers function best if their jobs and physical safety can be assured. They must be protected from harassment in the workplace because they reveal the criminal activities of their bosses.
Whistle-blowers report plots for siphoning funds or laundering embezzled funds. They bring out incriminating documents that will assist police, EFCC and the courts to investigate, prosecute and punish thieves in high places and even recover some of the monies they stole.
Our banks, civil service and MDAs are in desperate need of whistle-blowers.
It is incredible that so many billions are stolen from the public treasury every year, deposited in private accounts in our banks here in Nigeria, and transferred by these banks to the thieves’ bank accounts in Europe and America—and not one insider is concerned enough to blow the whistle. Is it possible that such “money laundering” has become a routine activity in our banks?
