Access to health care in Nigeria gets a boost with Hudibia telemedicine Apps

The challenges Nigerians undergo before gaining access to quality health may soon be a thing of the past as a Nigerian physician, Ahjoku Amadi-Obi recently launched a digital mobile application called Hudibia (see a doctor) in Lagos.

Hudibia App is an integrated healthcare solution that leverages emerging technologies to alleviate the challenges of delivering optimum health in a resource challenged environment.

Ahjoku Amadi-Obi, while speaking at a press conference in Lagos said the Medical related Application is an innovative health system that uses emerging technologies like Telemedicine and wearable technologies to deliver sustainable, high quality and cost effective healthcare to people anywhere in world.

Amadi-Obi stated that the official launch of Hudibia App presents a new phenomenon in digital health assistance as the App is available on Android Google Play store and iOS.

According to him, “A host of hospitals, pharmacists and registered pharmacies as well as medical specialists are listed on the App which has multi-lingual features that make it easy for doctors and patients to have perfect expressions and understanding of health issues”.

He further disclosed that the App allows doctors and patients to communicate in Nigeria local languages as well as other major international languages such as English, French, and Arabic.

“The video feature makes it possible for doctors to interact Face- to -face or arrange physical meeting with patients”. He said. Amadi-Obi who is a trained Surgeon and Emergency Medicine Doctor and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland while explaining further on the functionality of the App said the digital application was founded by healthcare professionals whose experiences span both developing and developed economies was informed by the intimate understanding of the obstacles in health care delivery in low resource environments.

He said the project which brought about the app has been on for two years but the solution became active since last year and currently have about 1000 users with 250 doctors in different categories of medicine to attend to patients.

The medical expert added that the App has checks and monitoring features to ensure that only registered medical professionals with outstanding credentials in their area of practice are those listed to connect on the platform.

“Hudibia App has a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) feature where people can seek professional clarifications on any health issue with a disease alert function in the pipeline”. He said
