Anambra state to establish 179 primary health centres

Anambra State government has expressed its commitment towards building one functional primary healthcare centres across the one hundred and seventy nine communities of the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Akabuike made this known while briefing newsmen on the 2018 Measles Campaign in Awka.

He listed the clinical symptoms of measles to include, high fever, running nose, cough, loss of appetite, rashes all over the face and body and red and watery eyes.

Akabuike was of the opinion that common complications arising from measles were diarrhea,    brain infection, pneumonia, blindness and death.

He affirmed that the state government was determined to take on areas that witnessed fluctuation in the number of confirmed cases of measles diseases during the period of last three years head on.

In a remark, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Chioma Ezenyimulu, said chairmen of local governments, traditional rulers Presidents-General, religious leaders, Heads of  schools as well as media practitioners had been mobilized  for the successful campaign.

 Ezenyimulu who said the vaccine was free and safe, implored mothers and caregivers to take their children to the nearest immunization post for vaccination.
