AGPMPN, GlobeMed point way forward for Nigerian health insurance industry

The Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN), Lagos State chapter, and GlobeMed Nigeria Healthcare Solutions have proffered solutions that will grow the capacity of Nigerian health insurance industry.

They offered the solutions when AGPMPN held its general meeting/CPD recently at the Malaria Research Centre, Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.

J.A. Arigbabuwo, chairman, AGPMPN, Lagos State chapter, urged healthcare practitioners to focus on building systems and not just people.

He also emphasised on the need for healthcare providers to build up their capacity to efficiently handle the current insured members under the National Health Insurance Scheme, in addition to the expected entrants.AGPMPN, GlobeMed

Based on the mandate given to Olufemi Thomas, the newly appointed executive secretary of the NHIS, the scheme coverage is expected to increase to 30 percent of the population.

Oussama Darian, general manager, GlobeMed Nigeria Healthcare Solutions, in his own submission highlighted the need for efficient utilisation management, utilisation review and collation of appropriate statistics and reports to make informed decisions concerning patients’ healthcare benefits administration.

Other attendees at the forum were the national chairman of AGPMPN, Anthony Omolola; the national patron of AGPMPN, Ore Falomo, and the provost of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Olumuyiwa Odusanya.
