AIICO Insurance embarks on ‘take a girl to work project initiative’

The 9th of August every year is celebrated as the South Africa Women’s Day and the day is observed as a public holiday in that country. However, the month of August every year is set aside to pay homage to the women of South Africa including the mothers, the wives, the sisters and the daughters.

Back home in Nigeria, AIICO Insurance plc in conjunction with the South African Embassy recently marked The South African Women’s Day with a ‘Take a Girl to work Project Initiative.’

This project selected female students from the University of Lagos to work with AIICO female Executives for a whole day to serve as their mentors where each student was exposed to the real life work experience of a typical working woman.

This exercise also exposed the female students to the intricacies of the work environment with the aim of preparing them for work life post tertiary education.

At the same time, Sefiya Sadiq, winner of Miss Insurance 2013 beauty pageant was recently received by the Management and Staff of AIICO Insurance plc during her courtesy visit to the organisation’s head office in Lagos.

Sadik accompanied by her chairperson and officials of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria(CIIN) seized the opportunity to talk about her pet project ‘Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.’
