Fashola to deliver lecture on insurance, pensions
The National Association of Insurance Correspondents (NAICO) in conjunction with the Lagos State Government is organising a public lecture on insurance and pensions industry in Nigeria.
The theme of the lecture is “The Role of Government in Management of Risks in Nigeria” with Lagos State government as case study.
The lecture to be personally delivered by his Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, will x-ray the State’s response to insurance and pensions reforms in Nigeria with particular reference to the building insurance law, group life cover and contributory pension scheme. The public lecture is slated for Tuesday, 28th October, 2014 Apa suits, Eko Hotels and Suits, Victoria Island, Lagos at 11am.
Organisers of the event say the public lecture is part of efforts to reposition insurance and pensions to contribute significantly to the growth of the economy. The survival of the larger economy depends on the growth of these key sectors of the economy.
The public lecture will also see presentations from Fola Daniel, the commissioner for insurance/CEO NAICOM; Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, the director general, National Pension Commission (PenCom); Sunday Thomas, the director general, Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and Misbahu Yola, the chairman, Pension Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp).
The occasion will also witness attendance of all chief executive officers of insurance companies and pension fund administrators and other stakeholders in the industry.
