Leadway Assurance to provide group life cover for lawyers

Underwriting firm, Leadway Assurance Company Limited and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would empower the insurance company to provide group life cover for members of the association. This is targeted at improving the welfare of the members of NBA nationwide. This policy will cover for accident, permanent disability and death, for a little amount as premium which makes its unique.
Adetola Adegbayi, executive director of the company speaking at the signing of the MoU at the Leadway headquarters in Lagos, said “I welcome you all my learned colleagues to the discussion of like minds on the importance and essence of group life insurance and I wish to commend the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for engineering this vision towards ensuring that all members of the bar have life insurance cover.”
“Let me share with you my preoccupation regarding Nigerians’ attitude towards insurance generally. Most people in Nigeria, inclusive of the educated do not appreciate the essence of insurance despite its numerous benefits and that is why it is heart-warming that change has begun and it has started with the Nigerian Bar Association.
She said “We can never be adequately prepared against unforeseen circumstances, but by subscribing to the group life insurance, an avenue is created to cater for our families in the event of accidental death and medical expenses in case of permanent total disability or critical illness.”
Adegbayi said many victims have either lost their lives or aggravated their situations because they failed to prepare for situations like these. It is a fact that this scheme, upon its commencement, will provide the needed cover to every insured member of this noble association to cater for not only situations like these but also other situations that lmay arises, she said.
She commended the NBA for taking this giant stride to provide such scheme for its esteemed members. It is my belief, she said, that through this scheme, Leadway Assurance will not only provide the insured members all the needed cover but also help in allaying their fears against accidents that may arise during ill-prepared situations.
I assure you that this alliance is a step in the right direction, she said. The Chairman of Association, Augustine Aleghe, in his remarks expressed happiness for the signing of the MoU, adding that the association designed this insurance scheme for I have known Leadway Association for a long time in the provision of group life insurance policy for clients, and their trust in meeting all obligations to our members.
