Nigeria expects, as Swiss Re India signs MoU to develop industry expertise
Swiss Re has a foot print in Nigeria(holding 25 percent equity in Nigeria’s Leadway Assurance). Just as it has in India, and both markets share in the need for increased expertise. Can Nigeria benefit, as did India recently?
Reinsurance giant Swiss Re’s Global Business Solutions division in India recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Insurance Academy (NIA), under which the pair will collaborate to develop insurance and reinsurance industry skills and expertise among professionals and students across India.
India map and flag under the new partnership, Swiss Re will use its domestic and international market expertise to support the development of the course curriculum for NIA’s Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) insurance programme, as well as offering bespoke workshops, specialist modules and seminars on risk management, insurance, reinsurance, and also data analytics.
“Swiss Re’s partnership with NIA is an important step in our ongoing efforts to increase the availability of suitable talent for India’s insurance industry. We look forward to working with NIA, bringing Swiss Re’s global expertise and understanding of the Indian market to train young people for fruitful careers in risk management,” said Amit Kalra, Head of Global Services, Bangalore, Swiss Re Global Business Solutions India Private Limited.
Swiss Re experts will also offer guest lectures that will explore numerous insurance and reinsurance business lines and segments, and the reinsurer will work with NIA to explore the possibility of launching a specialist actuarial science course.
Furthermore, a statement on the partnership explains that the pair will exchange insights and expertise in an effort to address the increasing demand for jobs that is expected to occur in the Indian insurance sector in the future.
