Premium Pension targets quality health for staff, customers

Quality Health through improved life style, eating habit, exercises and regular medical checks have been identified as critical for optimal performance of individuals for organisational and industry goals.

“A positive balance sheet and consistent good returns on investment without a foundation of good health anchored on positive and healthy lifestyle is like building castle in the air” said Wilson Ideva, the managing director and chief executive officer Premium Pensions Limited.

Ideva who made the remark during the Company’s management retreat held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos with the theme “Lifestyle Modification for Peak Performance”, said the PFA’s corporate vision for wellbeing is manifest in its programmes for continuous awareness.

“We are also recommending positive lifestyles and accordance of high premium to health to all our clients and retirees whose longevity would impact positively on our business.”

The retreat which was facilitated by the Byron Institute dwelt extensively on the need for executives to modify their lifestyles to ensure peak performance. It identified that stress of all kinds and causes are major factors affecting performance in work places. It also emphasized the importance of recognizing and paying adequate attention to mental health and also developing strategies for personal wealth creation as it impacts positively on financial stress management.

The high incidence of sudden death among executives in the country was decried during the retreat while members of staff were enjoined to adopt healthy lifestyle which encompasses healthy eating habit, physical exercises, relaxation and proper organization of activities.

Yoga, a spiritual and ascetic disciple which includes breath control, simple meditation and the adoption of specific bodily postures was highly recommended for mental control and well-being.

Apart from lifestyle modification, Charles Cudjoe, the president of the Byron Institute harped on the need for regular medical check-up and awareness creation to facilitate early detection of health challenges. “Breast, cervical and prostate cancer are some of the diseases that could be prevented through regular medical checks and awareness” he said.

He also noted that awareness of stress warning signs, cardiac risk factors and the severe threat of what he called “the sudden death syndrome” saves lives.

It should be recalled that Premium Pension Limited has been carrying out medical checkups on retirees who attend their retirees’ forums held across the country. “We render high quality pension fund administration with emphasis on technology, high return on investment and customer care and we believe retirees should be in good health to be able to enjoy pension” said Ideva. “Our staff should also not be seen operating below capacity owing to poor health.”
