Regency Alliance looks to spread market footprint

Determined not to relent on its current success at Ghana’s insurance market, Regency Alliance Insurance Plc is looking to grow its clientele base and further swell its business portfolio by spreading its footprint in other West and East African markets.
Adolphus Karibi-Whyte, a retired justice and the outgoing chairman of the board of the firm, who disclosed this recently in Lagos at a forum, urged the firm to leverage on its experience to explore opportunities in other markets.
Karibi-Whyte, at a send-forth party organised in his honour, commended the firm for availing him the opportunity to serve on its board, adding that having established itself as a dominant player in Nigeria’s insurance industry, Regency Alliance boasts of deep industry and underwriting expertise, superior claims handling, and desired market experience to replicate feats already achieved in Nigeria in other climes.
It is worthy to note that Regency’s progressively growing clientele base and expanding business portfolio led to the formation of four subsidiaries.
The outgoing chairman, who was applauded by shareholders for his exemplary leadership skills and efforts in stirring Regency Alliance to a new height, expressed optimism that the firm would continue to grow, considering its distinguished and eminently qualified directors.
Karibi-Whyte also linked the company’s achievements to its reliable and sincere team, explaining that the robust deliberations and team spirit at the boardroom have been crucial to the firm’s success.
Karibi-Whyte before his appointment at Regency Alliance was a justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria until his retirement from the bench in January 2002. He is currently the chancellor, Rivers State University of Technology, Port Harcourt. He was a member of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from its inception on November 17, 1994.
It would be recalled that in 2007, three insurance brands merged with Regency, making the company a more formidable force and leading player in Nigeria’s insurance industry.
