UBA Metropolitan backs Kaduna on insurance protection for citizens

Indigenes of Kaduna State that lost their lives during a bomb blast in Zaria last year have received insurance compensation worth N30 million through their families and beneficiaries. The insurance cover from UBA Metropolitan Life was taken by the Kaduna State Government on behalf of the state employees.

Henry Ationu, the executive director, business development of UBA Metropolitan Life Insurance commenting on the development said “Insurance especially Life insurance can be used as a fulcrum for dividend of democracy”.

He made this statement in Kaduna, at the official presentation of benefit cheques by the Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to the beneficiaries of the deceased Zaria bomb blast of last year. The governor gave out a total of about N30million worth of cheques to 24 beneficiaries, at an official ceremony which took place at government house, Kaduna.

Ationu who commiserated with the deceased families commended governor El-Rufai for putting in place the Insurance scheme to protect the good people of Kaduna state. He stated that one of the primary responsibilities of governance is to protect life and property of its citizens, and insurance is one of the most effective mechanism for protecting life and property, noting that Insurance especially Life insurance can be used as a fulcrum for dividend of democracy. He further advised that other state governors should emulate this positive step taken by the Kaduna state government.
