WAICA elects Edu chairman of brokers’ forum

The West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) has named Rotimi Edu, chairman for its Brokers’ Forum.

According to Tope Adaramola, director public relation, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Edu was elected at the annual confab of the west African regional body held in Sierra Leone, recently.

With the appointment of the new chairman, who is currently a Governing Board member of the NCRIB, which prides itself as the largest insurance professional body in West Africa, in terms of membership, insurance brokers would be able to synergise their efforts across the West African sub region.

Speaking after his election, Edu disclosed that part of his mandate of office is to see that insurance brokers operating in the West African sub-region collaborate more effectively for business and professional advancement.

Similarly, he stressed that the Brokers’ Forum would work with other professionals in the sub-region to accelerate their contributions to global economic development.

In congratulatory letter by Laide Osijo, the president of the NCRIB, the election of Edu into the regional body has opened a new vista for insurance brokers within the regional body and a mark of confidence reposed in Nigerian insurance brokers.

She promised that the Council will ensure that all support required by the new Chairman and his team are given for the benefit of the insurance industry in West Africa.
