18 female undergraduates set for Dare2Dream training project

In a bid to empower and train young people in Nigeria and help them in their quest to achieve their dreams in life, Kinabuti and pulse.ng have concluded plans to train 18 undergraduate female students selected from University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), University of Uyo (UNIUYO) and University of Lagos in one of the biggest fashion project in Nigeria titled ‘Dare2Dream,’ (D2D).

The project, which is set to give hundreds of aspiring models from different parts of the country the chance to live their dreams, dare and do, through a solid platform, will end on the 9th of November, 2014.

Selected students from University of Lagos will on November 5th to 7th be trained with the overall winner being awarded contract while ladies from the winning university will stand the chance of undergoing training for a period of time.

Ceterine Bortolossi, creative director, Dare2Dream project, disclosed that the selected finalist will be taken to a boot camp, where they will be thoroughly drilled for two weeks and the grand finale will be held on November 9th at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, where winners will be nominated and overall winner will be winning a contract.

Bortolossi noted that the project which will last for over a month and filmed into 15 episode motivational reality-documentary will be aired to the world to inspire the youths and show a different angle of Nigeria society.”

She further revealed that FCMB will be the official bank of the project, while sponsors like Golden vita Whole Wheat meal and Nescafe will be giving hundreds of aspiring models coming from different parts of the country the chance to live their dreams, giving them a solid platform.

“The project will also spot stylists, event organisers, bloggers and cinematographers as well as makeup artists and hair stylists from famous Mac Cosmetics, who will follow the production team and get hands-on training in collaboration with the Richard Coker Foundation and Dana Air,” she added.

Uche Mojekwu, head, corporate communications and CSR, FCMB said the bank is actively engaged in empowering both the youths and children and getting involved in this will help the growth and development of the society at large.

Mojekwu revealed that during the event, there will be an FCMB challenge to teach young entrepreneurs, who will in turn come out with creative idea of a good business project and how they intend to grow it. After this show, the winner will become the face of FCMB for one year and be representing the youth market.

Baba Jallah Epega, chief fund raiser, Richard Coker Foundation said the foundation will be training  one of the participant in the art of Cinematography, adding he is looking forward to an interesting six weeks.

Queen Jaja, one of the trained students from the inception of Kinabuti said her programme ran for four years and she was trained on a run way and ushering job.

“Since after my programme, life has been better for me, because I even train other people now, go for shows and do ushering jobs. I did a promo job for Akwa Ibom fashion week and this has earned me some amount of money,” she said.
