8 varsities to inspire undergraduates with ‘Deliver the Future’ tour

Benson Idahosa University, University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, University of Port-Harcourt, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, University of Ilorin, Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Lagos will from Wednesday October 29th 2014 play host to a leadership and personal transformation tour tagged ‘Deliver the Future’ (DTF).

The DTF tour, which will commence at the Benson Idahosa University Tomorrow Wednesday is a GEMSTONE, nation builder foundation initiative, which is supported by Airtel one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications provider.

Fela Durotoye, one of Nigeria’s leading inspirational speaker, nation builder and a multi-award winning author, while speaking at the unveiling of the project in Lagos recently, said DFT hopes to leave in its trail academic excellence by engaging the academic and non-academic staff of the school to improve the standard of communication and process of knowledge impartation, thereby creating more conducive learning environment.

Durotoye disclose he alongside other inspirational speakers will storm the eight identified campuses with series of energetic, engaging and exciting activities aimed at inspiring and infusing the next generation of leaders with exemplary values required to achieve personal success and ultimately transform Nigeria into a most desirable nation to live by December 31st 2025.

According to him, “DTF’s mission is to raise leaders of excellence at every stage and age who will commit to the process of building Nigeria. DTF intends to build such leaders in every school, leaders who will commit to the educational, moral, social infrastructural growth and development of the school while still students.”

This programme will also create a platform for past students of the institutions to come on board to support and contribute to the school’s developmental policies.

He revealed that the tour has three exciting competitions which includes ‘positive vibes,’ a music competition showcasing talent, good music and positive lyrics; ‘Campus Speaker Number One,’ where aspiring young speakers showcase their speaking skills and ability of inspire others and ‘Add Vantage,’ a business competition for budding campus entrepreneurs to present ideas and get angel investors on board.

Segun Ogunsanya, chief executive officer, Airtel Nigeria, noted that Airtel as a youth-centric telecoms organisation gives priority to the needs of Nigerian youths and supporting them to achieve their dreams.

“Airtel Nigeria, through ‘Deliver the Future’ has identified the timely need to orientate Nigerian youths because they are the future of Nigeria. The initiative provides them a rare opportunity to gain edifying knowledge, wisdom and discernment from the activities and the motivational speakers,” Ogunsanya said.

He added that it is practical that a forward-thinking organisation, we encourage and motivate our future leaders in order to prepare them for the task ahead.
