BusinessDay, Edusol conference to set agenda for education sector

As the nation continues to grapple with the challenge of finding a workable solution to the education sector, BusinessDay Conferences & Events in partnership with Education Solutions Limited, will on Friday, 20th March, 2015 organise the maiden edition of Excellence in Education Conference.

The event with the theme ‘Making Secondary Education Work in Nigeria: A Government, Private Sector & Private Schools Dialogue’ is scheduled to hold at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos from 10am to 3pm.

Confirmed speakers at the event includes: Ike Mark Poulter, principal, The Harefield Academy, UK; Linda Potticary, principal-day, Waterman College, Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria; Ella Rabiu, proprietress/director, Exam Success Education Centre, London UK; the moderator will be Akin-Olusoji Akinyele, senior economist for BusinessDay.

The Excellence in Education Conference is an initiative to identify the issues affecting Nigerian Education system generally and secondary school system in particular.

The aim of the conference is to explore and identify the reasons for the rot and steady decline in WAEC results in the secondary school system in Nigeria over the past 10 years and proffer solutions to the challenges identified.

The conference will focus on policy, regulation and infrastructure development and maintenance as necessary ingredients to attaining excellence in secondary education in Nigeria.

It will also feature presentation of case studies from two international speakers with rich practical experience from the United Kingdom secondary education system.

The event will have among it panelists the minister of education and members of the senate and federal house of representatives education committee chairmen, state commissioners of education; leaders of the various education, school inspectors, private secondary school operators, proprietors of private secondary schools, teachers of both private and public schools.

Other includes; parents and parent teachers associations of private schools, corporate organisations whose CSR focus is on education, Foundations with focus on education and various non-governmental organisations and international development agencies and other interested stakeholders.
