China Europe International Business School inaugurates alumni chapter in Nigeria
The China Europe International Business School, (CEIBS) has inaugurated its alumni chapter in Nigeria with a promise to contribute to the economic development of the country by providing high standard of business management education.
CEIBS is ranked among the top business schools in the world and number one leading business school in Asia according to the Financial Times (London) worldwide ranking. The institution which was set up in November 1994 in Shanghai, China has directly and indirectly contributed in no small measure to the country’s economic transformation.
Pedro Nueno, president of CEIBS, in company of Victor Rutgers, executive director CEIBS Africa, Thelma Opara, country manager, Kofi Darfour, alumni manager, Celestine Kumahor, corporate services manager, and Adewale Talabi, alumnus, addressed the media in Lagos saying that the Institution also promises to build a pioneering series of management education programmes in Africa that will contribute to the continent’s economic transformation and further the integration of African executives into the world economy.
Speaking during the launch in Lagos, Nueno, disclosed that though situated in Accra, Ghana, the CEIBS Africa campus offers management, leadership and entrepreneurial education to senior managers all across Africa.

He explained that apart from the Executive MBA programmes, CEIBS also offers open programmes for senior executives as well as company specific programmes tailored to address specific needs of particular establishments. He stated that CEIBS often partners with other top tier global institutions to deliver joint executive and customised programmes where necessary. Top amongst such partner schools are Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, IESE Business School e.t.c.
He further stated that CEIBS’ main campus, an ultra -modern facility, is located in Shanghai. The institution has other campuses in Beijing, Shenzhen and a teaching facility in Accra, Ghana. It recently acquired a new campus in Zurich, Switzerland. These campuses as well as those of partner institutions are available to CEIBS students.
Opara said the flagship programme of CEIBS Africa, which is the Executive MBA boasts of a truly Pan African mix from Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’ivoire, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Kenya amongst others, adding that CEIBS Africa’s programme offering also include; the Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership for Africa (WELA); Advanced Management Programme (AMP), Owner Director Programme (ODP), Company Specific Programme (CSP) and short open enrolment programmes. She stressed that the Executive MBA is highly subsidized in Africa to encourage as many managers in Africa as possible to take advantage of the world class education offered by the institution.
