Educationist tasks teachers on research, global competitiveness
The need for teachers at all levels to look beyond textbook knowledge in order to expose their pupils to research and equip them for global competitiveness have once again been reiterated.
Omotayo Morgan, managing director, Interworld Management & Services Limited, made this known while presenting World Book online digital products to education stakeholders at Corona School, Victoria Island Lagos.
Morgan disclosed that exposing pupils to information beyond their textbook knowledge is key to their attaining greater heights in education and life stressing that exposing pupils to a wide range of e-learning applications is good for enhancing their learning ability. According to her, “Today education is the key to individual achievement. For any career, knowledge and educational requirements are greater than ever before, and competition is keener than ever. That is why our children from an early stage must be encouraged to think outside of the box.
“Knowledge doubles every five years, for that purpose, access to information over and beyond what you have in the prescribed textbook is critical. First, they must learn how to access the information,” she said.
The educationist, while presenting the various benefits of the World Book digital products to schools, parents and library administrators at the event, said World Book online is committed to accurate, reliable and readable content in its editorial process, adding that the books on the digital platform spanned a range of subjects, age and format that enrich and enlighten the pupils.
“Our technical teams focus on creating digital tools and resources that utilise the latest technologies to deliver a superior learning experience, whether you are using PCs, tablets or other mobile devices.
“The result is content that entertains as it educates while aligning with the national curriculum. Most important, the designing of the World Book content takes into consideration the needs of pupils and students in mind to ensure that their commitment to literacy is rewarded with easily understandable text that is informative and eminently readable,” she said.
