Technology innovators are not yet done
Technology is a mechanism that is fast changing the way human society does everything. One area which technology is fast impacting, and positively too is education and learning. With computers, internet, smart phones, tablet devices and now content/curriculum activated screens; studying, learning and communication in the 21st century are being revolutionized.
The 2014 Gulf Information Technology Exhibition just concluded in Dubai was an event that threw away impossibilities and provided mankind with tools and mechanism that can create better value and enhance effectiveness.
From the eye opening and impactful presentations by tech startups from Nigeria on technology tools on learning and studying for students to the revealing and engaging presentations on how large computer screens with educational content and interactive ability can help teachers deliver better lessons and enable students focus and learn better, GITEX 2014 was indeed a life changing forum.
Interacting with Gbolahan Olayomi of Equipment Hall at GITEX 2014 gave me an insight of things to come in the use of technology in learning and communication. Equipment Hall in Nigeria represents a Cyprus technology interest in Nigeria that has launched the Prestigio large TV like computer screens fit for learning and presentations in classrooms and board rooms Gbolohan in his interaction with the media and visitors to his stand at GITEX showed he has an unbridled passion to change the way we communicate in educational institutions and corporate settings. He expresses strongly his conviction that the entry of Prestigio brand into Nigeria in 2015 will change the way boardroom presentations and meetings are done and also the way teachers/instructors/Lecturers deliver their lessons in schools.
With software that links smartphones to the Prestigio presentation screens, management personnel can interact and contribute effectively to presentations without leaving their seats, so also students in universities. The distracting factor of taking notes while lessons are delivered in universities/schools will be over, as the new learning technology provides digital access and effective download of learning contents for all.
The world is fast changing. When Osun state started distributing learning tablets to students, many were amazed. But technology innovators are not yet done. More innovative ways of enhancing effectiveness and value in human society will continue to unfold.
