The Power of Ideas (Part 2)
An idea is never given to you without you being given the power to make it reality. You must, nevertheless, suffer for it” (Richard Bach).
It is often said that ideas rule the world. In the ordinary sense, an idea is the product of a mental effort, which could be influenced by personal thoughts, desire, dream, plan or vision. This means that ideas originate from the mind of a person who has a mental impression, image or concept to communicate to others. Ideas are of course related to personal thoughts, suggestions, plan of action and creative processes with reference to specific situations.
Illustratively, ideas are very much like the seeds of a plant. Inside those seeds reside powerful natural forces that determine the potential abilities and capacities for the seeds to become transformed into tender seedlings. It is, from these seedlings that strong trees eventually develop. It is wonderful to just imagine that big trees, which can occupy a relatively large land space and in some instances exist for several decades if nurtured and preserved all developed from tiny seeds. That is the power of the seed in nature.
The power of ideas follows the same path in the sphere of human existence and endeavour. A lot of the great events and developments, as well as all human creative products and activities have all developed from personal thoughts and opinions, which eventually gave rise to ideas. In fact, with regard to business for instance, it is clear that every business opportunity develops from a business idea, although not all business ideas end up as excellent business opportunities. That is the power of ideas.
Just as in the natural situation where seeds and seedlings are carefully nurtured and protected through their most vulnerable stages, so must good ideas also be nurtured and protected in order to ensure the manifestation and delivery of the thoughts behind the ideas. That is one of the essential benefits of coaching. Coaching is essentially a process and structure aimed at facilitating the accomplishment of specific goals and outcomes. It is characterised by the activities that focus on supporting and amplifying goal-enhancing issues, while seeking to eliminate possible ‘toxic’ and inhibiting factors.
Your dreams, desires, aspirations, wishes, passions, ambitions and hopes are all like the seeds of a plant. They have incredible power of life expressions, as well as the most incredible potentials for transformation within them. They must therefore not be inhibited or aborted. Rather, they must be moved from the phase of mere fancy and fantasy, through the phases of personal belief and determination, to the phase where great personal visions, opportunities and reality meet.
You may in the process meet and/or need a coach that shares your beliefs and is similarly committed to the translation of your ideas to reality. A successful coaching engagement definitely offers you that benefit and promise. Indeed for many people, such a beneficial partnership between the coach and the client that results in the fulfillment of the dreams, ambitions and passions of the client is greatly desired.
The challenge usually is that not many people are aware of the existence of such possibilities in the professional coaching sense, while others, even when they know, are not able to access the best and most suitable coach or coaching engagement process. Yet, for a lot of people that have worked with a professional coach, their experience is that they are able to get the much needed support of a partner in the process of achieving their goals.
Most people are usually amazed at how much they can experience desired change and personal transformation, as they commit to personal development through practical coaching engagements. They often discover along the way that they can be sufficiently empowered to believe in their cherished dreams and personal desires with regards to set goals. They discover further that, in addition of getting their ideas to the points of implementation and actualisation, they also grow and learn throughout the journey.
The starting point is always having great dreams and desires that can be expressed as transforming ideas, which when given the necessary nurturing become powerful aspirations that impact self and others. That is the power of a great idea. It has the potential (or ability) to grow from a mental impression or concept, through the processes of active development to become a powerful and creative force.
