Abia accountantant gen sworn in as perm secretary
Gabriel Onyendilefu, the accountant general of Abia State, has been sworn-in as a permanent secretary in the state civil service.
Okezie Ikpeazu, the state governor, charged the new permanent secretary soon after being administered with the oath of office by the solicitor general of the state, Enyinnaya Okezie, to continue to remain committed to service, reminding him that to whom much was given much was also expected.
Ikpeazu, who described Onyendilefu as a man with a very good track record in the service, pointed out that he had served the state as accountant general while his stint in that position earned the state respect and recognition from the National Assembly and the Central Bank of Nigeria as a prudent manager of resources.
The Abia chief executive disclosed that it was for the above reason that Onyendilefu was chosen for the new position and promised to respect and honour civil servants who deserve such.
The Abia civil service remains the pivot on which the government revolves, he said, adding that how the government performs remains on how efficient the civil service is.
Ikpeazu used the forum to commend the members of the Abia bailout committee for the job they had done so far, and urged them to ensure that by October 30, all salary and pension arrears in the state would be a thing of the past so that government could concentrate on the training and re-training of the state workforce.
The new permanent secretary, Onyendilefu thanked the governor for the honour done him and promised to live up to the expectation in the discharge of his duties.
He promised to whole-heartedly work for the state, adding that as the permanent secretary/accountant general he would ensure that the finances of were prudently managed.
