Abia to boost Aba leather sector with modern equipment
In a bid to boost the leather and shoemaking industry in Aba, the commercial hub centre of Abia State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu says arrangements have been concluded to ship in shoemaking equipment from Turkey.
Ikpeazu, who returned after a-two week trade mission abroad, said some Abia indigenes were still at Istanbul, undergoing studies on all the techniques of shoemaking with a view to bringing back shoemaking equipment.
He said during the trip, he was able to establish some partnerships in education, health and trade, among others.
According to him, plans have been concluded to upgrade health facilities in the state to international standard in collaboration with some health experts.
He made public that one of America’s foremost inventors in cancer machines would soon visit Abia to explore the possibility of establishing a factory in the state.
The governor also disclosed that investors were coming from Philadelphia to start greenhouse technology, a modern trend in agriculture, in the state.
A comprehensive package of the benefits of the trip will be unveiled in the coming weeks, he said, pointing out that his administration’s plans for the next 100 days will soon be unveiled.
