Ambode appoints new chair for LIRS
Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has appointed Olufolarin Ogunsanwo as the new chairman, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
Tunde Fowler, the immediate past executive chairman of LIRS, resigned from office in June this year, weeks after the current administration was sworn in May, and was subsequently appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
The Lagos State House of Assembly confirmed Ogunsanwo’s appointment on Tuesday, on the request of the governor.
The governor had earlier approved the appointment of new directors to the board of LIRS.
The new directors include Akintola Bolaji, Moroof Oludare Tijani, Arinola Kola-Daisi, Seyi Alade, Afolayan Folashade and Ayodele Adebayo, with Jimi Aina serving as board secretary.
The new officers are expected to resume work immediately and work towards implementing the vision of the state government in their respective agencies.
A section of the head office building of the board was gutted by fire on Monday in what was suspected to be caused by an upsurge in power supply.
