Ambode appoints new HoS, council secretaries
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the appointment of Folasade Sidikatu Adesoye as the 20th Head of Service (HoS) for Lagos.
In a statement by Habib Aruna, chief press secretary to Ambode, said, “Adesoye’s appointment takes effect from November 11, 2017,” following the statutory retirement of Olabowale Ademola, the current HoS on November 10, 2017.
The new HoS was first appointed into the Lagos State civil service on December 28, 1983, as an accountant and has served in several ministries.
She was appointed a permanent secretary in 2010 and was deployed to the Civil Service Pensions Office where she served till August 2015 when she was deployed to the Office of Local Government Establishment, Training and Pensions Office.
In 2016, she was asked to serve in the same capacity as permanent secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Until her appointment, she was the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Governor Ambode thanked the outgoing HoS, Ademola for her meritorious service to the state and wished her well in her future endeavours.
In a related development, the governor has approved the appointment of secretaries to the local governments and supervisors for the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas of the state.
Tunji Bello, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in a statement, said Ambode authorised the release of the newly appointed council secretaries and supervisors, in line with the provisions of the Lagos Local Government Administration Law and the Guidelines for Administrative Procedures for Local Government.
He said the appointments would further deepen democratic values and culture at the grassroots in line with the present administration’s policy thrust of community-based governance and government of inclusion.
He assured Lagosians that all the boards of the state government agencies and parastatals would also be constituted.
