These facilities will ensure accessibility to proper sanitation and portable water supply in a secured environment.
According to the World Health Organisation, “the greatest mortality in Africa arises from preventable waterborne diseases, which affects young children greater than any other group. The principal cause of these diseases is lack of clean drinking water.”
Provision of clean drinking water and practicing of basic sanitation has been recorded to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates of some of the most serious water-related diseases by up to 82 percent. Therefore, every child should have access to clean water and basic sanitation.
