Couple docked over N65m jewellery theft
A couple, Simon Bisong and Glory Bisong, who allegedly stole gold jewellery valued at N65 million have been charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos. Simon, 41, Glory, 32, are charged alongside a domestic cook, Joseph Agbeh, 43 and a businessman, Amidu Musa, 55.
They are standing trial on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property. The prosecutor, Tubi Olajide, said that the accused committed the alleged offences on two separate days. He said that the first day was on September 4, at 09:00 am at 61 Road, House D18, Victoria Garden City, Lagos. Olajide said Agbeh, a domestic cook to one Aladepe Olajide, connived with others to steal gold jewellery valued at N15 million, property of Olajide.
The prosecutor also said that on October 16, at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, Simon, Glory and Agbeh, stole gold jewellery worth N50 million property of one Ada Okoye. He said that Musa was caught receiving the stolen jewellery valued at N15 million. Olajide, however, said that the total value of the stolen property was N65 million, add- ing that the offences contravened Sections 285 (5), 326 (a), and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused all pleaded innocent of the charge.
